Pakistan Ready for Talks with India for Sake of Regional Peace, Says PM Shehbaz During Iran Visit
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed Pakistan’s willingness to engage in dialogue with India, emphasizing that peace in South Asia is vital for the progress of the entire region. Speaking during his official visit to Iran, the Prime Minister said Pakistan remains committed to resolving disputes through peaceful means, provided that mutual respect and sincerity guide the process.
Addressing a joint press briefing alongside Iranian officials, Shehbaz Sharif noted that conflicts and tensions have held back the potential of South Asia for decades. “Our people deserve peace, stability, and prosperity. Pakistan is ready to play its role for regional harmony, and dialogue with India remains the only viable path forward,” he stated.
The Prime Minister highlighted that Pakistan’s priority is economic growth, regional connectivity, and poverty alleviation. He underlined that peace with neighboring countries would directly benefit the people by boosting trade, investment, and cultural exchange.
While reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, Shehbaz also urged India to take constructive steps and address core issues that have long strained relations. He said Pakistan will continue to seek opportunities for dialogue but stressed that peace must be based on justice and fairness.
Analysts believe these remarks, delivered in Tehran, carry added weight as Iran has historically supported regional stability and emphasized diplomatic solutions to conflicts. The statement is being seen as both a reaffirmation of Pakistan’s stance and an invitation for India to respond positively.
