Pakistan, Italy Sign Labor Accord

Pakistan and Italy have officially signed a labor accord aimed at strengthening workers’ rights and improving labor standards in both countries. The agreement was finalized during a high-level meeting between Pakistani officials and Italian diplomats, reflecting a shared commitment to social justice and fair employment practices.

The accord focuses on enhancing workplace safety, ensuring fair wages, and providing training and capacity-building programs for workers. Both sides agreed to exchange best practices, promote compliance with international labor standards, and jointly address challenges such as informal employment and workplace exploitation.

Speaking after the signing, Pakistan’s Labour Minister said, “This accord demonstrates our dedication to protecting workers and fostering a fair work environment. Collaboration with Italy will help us adopt modern standards and improve the livelihoods of our workforce.” Italian representatives expressed their support for Pakistan’s labor reforms and highlighted opportunities for vocational training, skill development, and social protection programs.

Officials noted that the agreement will also help boost bilateral trade relations by creating safer, more equitable working environments, which can attract foreign investment.
