Lahore Residents Forced to Breathe Highly Toxic Air as AQI Surpasses 1,000 Again

Lahore is once again facing a severe air pollution crisis as the Air Quality Index (AQI) surpassed 1,000, exposing residents to dangerously toxic air. Health authorities have issued warnings about respiratory issues, advising citizens, particularly children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing conditions, to minimize outdoor activities.

Experts attribute the hazardous air levels to a combination of industrial emissions, vehicular pollution, crop burning in nearby regions, and stagnant weather conditions. Hospitals have reported a rise in patients with breathing difficulties, asthma attacks, and other pollution-related ailments.

The government has activated emergency measures, including temporary school closures, traffic restrictions, and public awareness campaigns. Environmentalists have urged long-term solutions such as stricter emission regulations, promotion of clean energy, and reforestation to combat persistent pollution.

Residents expressed frustration over repeated air quality emergencies and demanded immediate action to safeguard public health.
