Punjab to Deploy Advanced Technology to Curb Exam Cheating
Lahore – The Punjab education authorities have announced plans to implement advanced technology measures in public and private examinations across the province to prevent cheating and ensure fair assessment. The initiative aims to enhance transparency, maintain academic integrity, and restore public confidence in the examination system.
Officials stated that the new measures will include biometric verification of students, CCTV surveillance in examination halls, AI-powered monitoring systems, and secure online submission portals for answer sheets. The technology will be applied at both matriculation and intermediate levels, as well as in university-level assessments where feasible.
“Exam integrity is a cornerstone of quality education. By deploying state-of-the-art technology, we aim to minimize malpractice and ensure that all students are evaluated based on merit,” said a senior official from the Punjab Examination Commission. Authorities also emphasized that teachers and invigilators will receive specialized training to operate the new systems effectively.
Education experts have praised the initiative, noting that exam cheating has been a persistent issue in many regions and that technological interventions can significantly reduce malpractice. Students and parents have expressed optimism that the measures will create a level playing field, though some have raised concerns about technical glitches and data privacy.
